Spotify app to be available in Catalan as part of the partnership agreement with FC Barcelona
Since the partnership began in July of this year, FC Barcelona and Spotify have been working hard to bring music and football together. Now, with the Barça family in mind and in recognition of the Club´s identity and commitment to Catalonia, the Swedish company is adding Catalan to the languages available in their app from this month onwards.
As such, this month the world's most popular audio streaming app will become available in Catalan in its mobile versions, meaning it is now available in 63 languages.
The addition of Catalan to the Spotify app was announced during President Joan Laporta’s report, the first item on the agenda of the FC Barcelona’s General Assembly of Delegate Members held on Sunday.
The collaboration between FC Barcelona and Spotify began on July 1 and is part of the Club’s strategic objective to proactively seek out partners that share brand values and philosophy, while at the same time helping to maintain the Club’s status as a global benchmark in an increasingly competitive environment, both on and off the pitch.
The app in Catalan
Later this month, Spotify is rolling out an update where users will be able to switch to Catalan in their mobile device. This simply involves accessing the settings section in iOS or language set up in Android.
Statement from Joan Laporta, FC Barcelona president
“Our partnership with Spotify extends much further than a commercial relationship, it is a strategic relationship. They have understood our culture from the outset, and their commitment to Catalan, the Club’s official language, through the development of the Spotify app in our language, is testament to precisely that”.
Statement from Marc Hazan, VP Business Development and Partnerships
"We’re grateful to the FC Barcelona members and fans for welcoming Spotify into their club and stadium this year. As part of our partnership and commitment to bringing football and music together, the Spotify app experience will be available in Catalan later this month so that the club’s fans can enjoy Spotify with more ease".
