Xavi: 'I have a really professional squad'

The Barça coach was positive after the win in Almería consolidated his team's second place in the table

FC Barcelona did the job they set out to do in Almería - pick up three points and consolidate their second pace in the league. Moreover, the team did so in Xavi Hernández's 100th game as Barça coach.

The win was described as an important one by coach Xavi after the game in his appearance before the press with "the minimum requirement to finish second" in mind. The blaugrana boss continued to express his excitement about next season, confessing his "desire for pre-season to start," despite admitting that "the Club's financial situation is not easy but we are all working and the Club is doing all it can to turn the situation around."

Praise for the match winner

The coach also commented on two goal hero Fermín López: "The loan to Linares was great for him. After we gave him a try in preseason and we saw he was ready to compete. He's dynamic, he can finish with both feet, he doesn't lose the ball and has a nose for goal. We are looking at a player who could be with us for years."

Committed squad

At the end of a season without the prospect of silverware, Xavi said, "It's not an easy situation or a nice one. We want to fight for trophies and they have got away from us. But, I have a really professional and committed squad and we are putting in performances to make it to the Super Cup for next season."
